Job Overview

Position Summary

The Human Resources Director will be a strategic partner among the leadership team and a mentor to all employees. The individual is responsible for HR oversight of the entire organization including all restaurants and maritime operations. The role will report to the company’s President and Vice President and will work closely with the Director of Operations. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with all internal policies, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement company-wide HR SOPs for streamlined workflow and complete compliance.
  • Administer all compensation, benefits, and leave. 
  • Oversee talent acquisition; implement effective recruitment strategies and hiring practices. 
  • Maintain and periodically audit all employee files (managed digitally) in compliance with applicable laws and company standards.
  • Edit and manage company documents and policy books as necessary.
  • Develop strategies for and participate in employee and manager performance reviews aligned with organizational direction and objectives. 
  • Maintain a role model presence throughout the organization fostering collaboration between management and employees to improve communication and culture.
  • Manage seasonal layoffs and provide administrative support for the offboarding of 350+ employees.
  • Maintain full compliance with relevant jurisdiction at all venues, and perform periodic audits to confirm such. Provide training to venue management on necessary legal protocols, and manage adherence. 
  • Create and implement SOPs to minimize employee hiring costs and employee attrition.
  • Develop, train, coach, and supervise managers in matters of People Management (including conflict resolution).
  • Provide consultation and execute improvements to company Human Resources and employment processes. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with external entities as relevant to HR systems, insurance, compliance, and payroll. 
  • Complete weekly payroll processing for all Crew venues.
  • Expediently resolve employee grievances and maintain communication with hourly and management staff. Perform investigations as needed, maintaining detailed documentation of conflicts and resolutions.
  • Manage Time Off Policy use and activity across all staff levels (hourly, management, and senior leadership).

 

Qualifications:

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment law, compensation, wage & benefits, organizational planning, organizational development, employee relations, safety, training and development.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be self-motivate.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop junior HR staff members.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage complicated scenarios
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain a composure as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, Human Resources or similar competency a plus
  • Minimum 4 years of leadership experience in Human Resources
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • General knowledge of industry safety standards and procedures
  • Organizational skills
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or comparable certification
  • Polished personal presentation; grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • Proficiency with computer-based technologies
  • Ability to perform essential job functions when working in a high business volume, fast-paced environment
